{"id":3730,"date":"2023-01-25T10:41:14","date_gmt":"2023-01-25T10:41:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apexbloggers.com\/designs\/denver-integrative\/?p=3730"},"modified":"2026-02-01T10:42:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-01T10:42:13","slug":"what-does-it-mean-to-be-truly-healthy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apexbloggers.com\/designs\/denver-integrative\/what-does-it-mean-to-be-truly-healthy\/","title":{"rendered":"What Does It Mean To Be Truly Healthy?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The World Health Organization defined health as \u2018A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.\u2019\u00a0 What stands out in this definition for me is that it takes several modalities to achieve overall health of body and mind. \u00a0 As\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/denverintegrativehealth.com\/adult-health\/\">Functional Medicine<\/a>\u00a0considers many parts that make up the whole, so does it take focus in various areas to create true health.<\/p>\n<p><b>So how do we attain health in a holistic way?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>To assess our health, we need to look at several factors that make up our daily lives and how we live them.\u00a0 Even though we may not have a specific illness or disease, we may not feel our healthiest and may still be in a state of dis-ease. In this case, we must examine our lives and work on the following areas to help improve our lifestyles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Diet<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 How are we eating? Are we eating a balance of whole, organic, unprocessed food? Are we avoiding foods that create inflammation and disease processes in our bodies? Are we drinking enough water? Are we eating regular\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/denverintegrativehealth.com\/holistic-nutrition\/\">nutritious meals<\/a>\u00a0but without overeating?<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Exercise<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Are we doing at least 15-30 minutes of movement every day?<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Sleep<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Are we getting uninterrupted, regular sleep and feeling rested when we wake up?<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Stress management\u00a0<\/b>\u2013\u00a0 Are we taking time for ourselves? Are we managing the balance between stress and relaxation? Are we saying \u201cno\u201d to things that are not necessarily adding to our lives for ourselves and our families?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All these lifestyle factors impact our health, and when we don\u2019t feel as good as we should, we should work on these areas and see where we can make healthier choices.\u00a0 Being healthy means that you experience vitality and feel strong, fit, and confident daily.\u00a0 It means being realistic when it comes to food choices, exercise, sleep, and work-life balance.<\/p>\n<p>I very much believe that we must incorporate balance into our lives and choices.<\/p>\n<p><b>I like to live by the Pareto principle or the 80\/20 rule<\/b>!<\/p>\n<p>Eating a balanced diet can be periodically interrupted by an occasional not-so-healthy splurge. It\u2019s what you do\u00a080% of the time\u00a0that makes the difference, but it doesn\u2019t mean we have to deprive ourselves of all the things we enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>The body is a creature of habit, and your daily rituals will build vitality.\u00a0 Healthy habits reinforce your routine, so choosing wellness is the first step towards creating a long-term health goal. Therefore, it\u2019s important to\u00a0make positive changes slowly, over time,\u00a0so that they\u2019re integrated into your daily routine.<\/p>\n<p>Being healthy doesn\u2019t mean you have to spend on the latest yoga clothes, superfoods, gym memberships or juicers.
